What does the NSP seek to do?
National Scholarship Portal seeks to provide a Simplified, Mission-oriented, Accountable, Responsive & Transparent, SMART System for faster, efficient, and effective disposal of scholarship applications and delivery of funds directly into the bank account without any leakages.
The portal is a Mission Mode Project serving as a typical electronic portal for implementing various scholarships schemes. It also includes several scholarship programs that the Union Government, State Government, and Union Territories offer.

How do I apply for a scholarship on the portal?
If you are a new user applying for scholarships:
- Visit the website for National Scholarships Portal.
- Go to the Home page and click on Student Login.
- Then, fill up the application as per the instructions given by the system and click on the Save button.
- After that, you will receive a Temporary ID. The system will instruct you to submit your Temporary ID and Date of Birth to fill in the further details.
- Once the registration is complete, click the Submit button. You will receive a Permanent Registration ID for renewal and tracking the status of the application.
If you are a returning applicant applying for renewal of scholarship:
- Go to the Home page and Login with your Application ID and Date of Birth from the previous year registration.
- If you forget your login credentials, you can use the Forgot Application ID button to retrieve them.
- Once logged in, follow the instructions and Save.
*Only the students who have received the previous scholarship payments can renew the application.
What documents do I need to apply for scholarships?
For a scholarship amount of Rs.50,000/- per annum, the National Scholarship Portal requires the following documents:
- Caste/Community certificate as per the scheme requirement
- Income Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the State/UT Government.
- Disability Certificate, if applicable.
- Single girl child certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the State/UT Government as per the scheme requirement.
- Scanned copy of Bank Passbook reflecting Bank Account number and IFSC details, if not opting for Aadhar Based payment. (Applicable for the Pre-Matric scheme where students do not have their bank account, parents/guardians can provide their account details).
- Residential/Domicile Certificate.
Am I eligible for the scholarships on the NSP?
The eligibility criteria vary according to the state, course, caste, and religion. Follow these steps to check if you are eligible for a scholarship.
- Select your domiciliary state/ UT from the drop-down box.
- Choose the course level you are applying for a scholarship.
- Then, select your religion.
- Pick the caste/community you belong.
- Choose your gender.
- After that, fill in your parents’ annual income.
- Select your disability status
- Then, fill in the Captcha as in the box and click on Check Eligibility.
You will get a list of scholarships to choose from, as per your eligibility.
